Russ Heslop worked in law enforcement for 40 years, with over 30 years of direct involvement in traffic collision investigations. His law enforcement career spanned three police agencies: the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the Oak Bay Police Department, and the Winnipeg Police Service. As a Senior Collision Analyst, he oversaw all collision investigations in his department for over 5 years, and also oversaw specialized training for other investigators. Russ attended over 100 crash related autopsies, studying occupant and pedestrian kinematics. He has testified and provided evidence accepted in 4 western provincial courts, and was declared an expert witness in all levels of court in Manitoba. As a certified CDR Operator and Analyst, he is trained and experienced in evidence preservation and advanced collision analysis. Russ’s personal interests include reading, taking walks with his wife, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
