Dr. McCarty holds a PhD in Biomedical Science from the University of Guelph with a specialization in Biomechanics, and a Masters of Public Health from the University of Michigan. She is also a CXLT Certified XL Tribometrist. Dr. McCarty conducts analyses of injury probability and mechanisms in motor vehicle collisions and slips/trips and falls. She is also involved in investigations where compliance to building code and municipal standards needs to be determined. Dr. McCarty has a strong background in the areas of injury and tissue biomechanics, physiology, and kinesiology. She is experienced at computer modelling and conducting high speed impact testing, stress testing, and bone strain testing on biological materials. Dr. McCarty is a published author in internationally recognized journals, and is an ASTM F13 Committee Member involved in the development of standards for safe walking surfaces. She has qualified to provide expert evidence in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice.
